Explore our advanced microvascular clamps, available in both sliding approximator double clamps and single clamps. Designed with flat, gentle jaws, these clamps are essential for secure vessel handling. Always use clamp-applying forceps for safe application and removal.
Our larger clamps, measuring 11 mm in length, are ideal for vessels ranging from 1.5 to 0.7 mm in diameter, while the smaller 8 mm clamps, with reduced closing force, cater to vessels between 1.0 and 0.4 mm. Each clamp is calibrated to deliver optimal closing pressures that prevent bleeding and slippage without damaging the vessel wall.
We classify our clamps for use on veins or arteries: venous clamps feature a smaller closing pressure and flat jaws, while arterial clamps, marked with an “A” suffix, offer higher closing pressure with a slight curve at the tip to prevent vessel wall crushing and slippage in pulsatile arteries. The “A” clamps are recommended for thicker vessels, primarily arteries, while those marked with a “V” are suitable for veins and thinner, more supple arteries.
Our clamps come in five sizes—1, 2, 3, HD, and RD—each tailored to accommodate various vessel sizes. The first three sizes are categorized into “A” and “V” types. Vessels can tolerate 20 g/mm² of pressure for up to 30 minutes without issues. The “A” clamp exerts 5–10 g/mm² on the largest vessels and 15–20 g/mm² on the smallest.
For added versatility, we’ve introduced a unique 3-jaw clamp design that holds the adventitia and everts the blood vessel, preventing adventitia entry into the lumen and facilitating backwall suturing—especially beneficial for beginners.
Be mindful that prolonged high clamp pressure can harm the intima and promote thrombus formation. Additionally, clamps can take up space in confined areas and may pose a risk of back wall stitching due to vessel flattening, particularly in plaque-filled atherosclerotic vessels. For these reasons, some surgeons may prefer clampless or minimally invasive clamps, applying pressure only on one side during anastomosis.
